Vila Nova de Famalicão strengthens road safety with a partnership for post-accident response
The Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão formalized, on February 18, a partnership with Segurança e Ambiente aimed at improving the response to road accidents and reducing risks for drivers and the environment.
The collaboration focuses on post-accident intervention, ensuring the removal of solid and liquid waste from roads, an essential factor for quickly restoring road safety conditions and preventing further accidents.
The first operational meeting took place at the facilities of the Vila Nova de Famalicão Municipal Police and was attended by Civil Protection, the Firefighters, the Public Security Police (PSP) and the National Republican Guard (GNR), marking the start of coordination among the various entities involved.
According to road accident data, Vila Nova de Famalicão is among the municipalities with the highest number of accidents in the Braga district. In this context, the specialized action of Segurança e Ambiente is particularly important, allowing risks associated with inadequate cleaning of roads after accidents to be eliminated.
The presence of waste on the road (such as oils, fuels or debris) represents an increased danger for road traffic and the environment, and can cause further accidents and lead to soil and watercourse contamination.
In the Braga district, Segurança e Ambiente already works in coordination with several municipalities, namely Fafe, Guimarães and Póvoa de Lanhoso, now reinforcing its presence with the integration of Vila Nova de Famalicão.
