The Municipality of Viseu formalized, on July 17, a partnership with Safety and Environment (Segurança e Ambiente) with the aim of reinforcing the response following road accidents and contributing to safer circulation and environmental protection.

The collaboration provides for specialized intervention in the restoration of road safety conditions after accidents, through the complete removal of solid and liquid waste resulting from the incidents. The presence of these materials on the roadway can represent a risk to circulation, increase the likelihood of new accidents, and cause environmental impacts, making rapid and appropriate action essential.

As part of the launch of this collaboration, the first operational meeting took place on August 7 at the Viseu Fire Department Headquarters, aimed at promoting coordination between the different entities involved in the operations.

The meeting was attended by Civil Protection, the Public Security Police (PSP), the National Republican Guard (GNR), the Municipal Police, the Red Cross, and the concessionaire EgisRoad, allowing for the alignment of procedures and reinforcing the coordination necessary to put the service into operation in the municipality.

In the district of Viseu, Safety and Environment already carries out its activity in the municipalities of Lamego, Resende, Mangualde, Carregal do Sal, and Tondela, with Viseu now joining the network of municipalities covered by the service.
